Stainless steel EN1.4512 Cold Rolled Coil, Strip and Sheet
Equivalent: AISI409L or EN 1.4512
Production Standard: ASTM-A-240/A480, ASME-SA-240/SA480, Also, JIS and Euronorm standard.
1.4512 Stainless Steel has a good combination of corrosion resistance because heat resistance is an ideal choice for lightly corrosive applications or the environment.
FORMING:
1.4512 stainless can be cut, blanked stretch formed and drawn without difficulty. For example, the formability characteristics of Type 409L are very similar to carbon steel.
WELDING:
Although autogenous welds are common, particularly in manufacture of tubing, a filler metal, above all, 1.4512 stainless steel, is often employed.
CORROSION:
The corrosion resistance of 1.4512 stainless steel is about the same as Type 410 stainless steel. In other words, 1.4512 offers improved corrosion resistance in comparison to carbon steels. However, its corrosion resistance is lower in comparison to other stainless steels with higher chromium content. As a result, 1.4512 offers sufficient resistance to corrosion and oxidation to be used in many automotive and non-automotive applications.
